Mad Trails Challenge

Hit the Trails. Have Some Fun!

Madison Land Conversation Trust maintains 35 miles of hiking trails here in town. There may even be a trail near you that you didn't know was there! In an effort to bring awareness to our trails and the opportunity they provide for outdoor fun, we challenge you and/or your family to participate in our first ever MadTrails Challenge. To successfully complete the challenge you must hike all 35 miles of our trails between now and November 1st, 2026. Get started right now by checking out our trail maps and descriptions here.

Reporting Your Progress
Report Using Avenza
We recommend using the Avenza gps app to report your progress. It’s free, easy to use and all MLCT trails can be downloaded from the app to your phone. For each trail you hike, record your track, take a screenshot of the completed map, and email it to mlctbluetrails@gmail.com. Make sure to put “MAD TRAILS CHALLENGE” in the subject line.

Report Using Our Trail Tracker
Another option for recording your progress is to download our Trail Tracker, fill in the trails as you go and email a screenshot of your completed tracker to mlctbluetrails@gmail.com. Make sure to put “MAD TRAILS CHALLENGE” in the subject line.

Trail Tracker

What’s in it for you?
Fresh air, exercise, family bonding, time away from screens... and special prizes! Everyone that completes the challenge will be entered into a drawing. Prizes will be awarded to three lucky contestants at the end of the challenge.

Share Your Experience
You can help us promote our trails by sharing a photo or moment from your walk and tag @Madisonlandtrust and add #MadTrailsChallenge2026. Please understand that by sharing a photo you are giving MLCT permission to use the image on our social media pages. We will gladly give credit to the photographer for any image we use.
